Gurugram Revamp for 5km Stretch that links Vatika flyover, Pataudi Road by December

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has started repairing a five-km link between Pataudi Road and NH-8 and is likely to complete the work by December. The stretch lying between the Vatika Chowk flyover on NH-8 and Pataudi Road serves as a dividing road for sectors 82A and 83; sectors 82 and 83; sectors 84 and 85; sectors 88 and 89 and sees heavy traffic.

The repair work will cost the authority nearly Rs 14 crore and includes road overlay, the repair of stormwater drains and footpaths, and the installation of road furniture, including bollards, solar cat eyes and reflective road studs. Moreover, the authority will be setting up signboards, informatory, cautionary and mandatory, along the stretch.
It has already started the resurfacing work of the road. “The work will highly benefit residents and commuters, who use the stretch regularly. Once the road refurbishing is complete, the dust and pollution problems will also lessen,” said a senior GMDA official.

The work may take nearly six months to complete, so the road should be ready by December, added the official.
Apart from serving as the link between two critical stretches, the road has several gated societies, hotels, hospitals, and commercial spaces on its sides. As a result, the traffic volume on it is very high.

The GMDA is also working towards constructing new roads in the city. A 610-metre-long road catering to sectors 37C, 37D, and 9B is currently in the pipeline.

According to the official, it will be a junction road, originating from the junction of three sectors. “Although the road will eventually be 1,357 metres long, we have only acquired the land required for constructing 610 metres so far. We will complete work on this stretch and work on the rest as we acquire the land in the future,” said a senior GMDA official.

The GMDA has already floated a tender, inviting agencies to determine an estimated cost for the project. However, the work on the road is unlikely to commence before next year, said the official. Located adjacent to Basai Road, sectors 37C, 37D, and 9B are among the more congested areas of Gurugram , housing several schools, commercial spaces, offices, and densely-populated villages like Basai and Garauli Khurd.
